Will Smith And Muhammad Ali Remind Trump That Heroes Come In Many Forms

Will Smith and Muhammad Ali remind us that many of our heroes are Muslim.

Are you paying attention, Trump supporters?

When you talk about all Muslims, you’re talking about Muhammad Ali. You’re talking about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Janet Jackson, Shaquille O’Neal, and the late Casey Kasem. You’re talking about some wonderful friends of mine and about a whole lot of people you don’t know and haven’t even taken the time to try to get to know.

Most importantly, you’re talking about people, as in human beings.

Our differences are not insurmountable. It is not impossible for all of us to come together, despite our differences in race, in economic status, in political beliefs, or even our differences in religion. Ali said it best when he said:

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

When Ali speaks, we should listen.
