Leave it to Stephen Colbert to tell us the horrible truth none of us really want to admit: the 2016 race for the White House will eventually come down to Trump vs. Clinton. Whether we want it or not, all signs are pointing that way, so we might as well go ahead and get used to the idea.

In fact, Colbert said on his show last night there is no way to stop Trump, no matter what other Republicans may try to do:

“Yes, Trump is unstoppable. He’s like Godzilla with less foreign policy experience.”

Colbert also noted that he, like most of us, thought Trump’s run for the 2016 GOP nomination was just some shameless self-promotion on the Donald’s part, but he no longer believes that:

“When he announced his intention to be president, it never occurred to me that his end game was to be president. But it’s time to end the denial. We, as a nation, must prepare for the very real possibility of President Donald J. –”

At that point, Colbert pretended to be sick at his stomach, then added:

“I think I just trumped in my mouth a little.”

Here’s the entire segment from “The Late Show.” Prepare to laugh.
