No matter how much he tries to deny it, Donald Trump is appealing to the basest, most hateful and ignorant people in this country. People who hate those the least bit different from them, be it of a different race, nationality, sexual orientation, or religion. When those who support Trump say they like that he speaks his mind, what they’re really saying is that he says the hateful things they’re thinking.
If you had any doubts regarding the kind of poison being stirred up by Trump, take a look at these tweets which came out of the Nevada GOP caucus just last night:

Nevada State Senator Aaron Ford said some friends of his also ran across some KKK-clad douchebags:
So, friends of mine observed this at a republican caucus location this evening. I'll admit, I'm boiling right now. ? pic.twitter.com/baDftDUyxm

Here’s another one, this one from a local reporter:
Many people reported people dressed as KKK outside Cimarron HS Caucus site. Photo cred: @Savon_Scarver @FOX5Vegas pic.twitter.com/es2mEFRzNU

Reaction from Trump acolytes was what you would expect: They said the KKK jerks were counter-protesters who wanted to embarrass the campaign in any way possible. Another Trump supporter took to social media and claimed that he could tell the hands of the men in the photo wearing the robes and hooks were black, so therefore they were black, too:
@AaronDFordNV @DIEDIN1865 Do these hands look white to you? pic.twitter.com/1YbCSwCmCE

But as Senator Ford noted, no matter who dressed this way, it needs to be brought to the public’s attention and shamed because it is horrific. Or as he so perfectly stated:
@HJovey @gr8inferno tell the truth, shame the devil.
— Sen. Aaron D. Ford (@AaronDFordNV) February 24, 2016
But for me, this is the deeper and much more pertinent question: Does anyone doubt that Donald Trump, with his racism and hatred for “others” does indeed appeal to members of the Klan and other hate groups such as the neo-Nazis? He can say he doesn’t want their support, but I bet he wants their votes.
The Trump campaign has stirred up long-simmering cauldrons of hate and vile poison that simmer beneath the surface in the United States. But what we all need to remember is that this is the UNITED States, and if we are not united, we will fall apart, splinter, shatter into a million pieces.
Tell the truth and shame the devil. Amen to that.
