Sheriff Joe Arpaio Ambushed Jane Sanders, And Bernie Just Fired Back

Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has long been known to engage in racial profiling, houses inmates in outdoor “tent city” facilities, and even serves spoiled food to those who are unfortunate enough to have to spend any time in his custody. So it’s not surprising that this racist asshat of a worm has enthusiastically endorsed Donald Trump for President in 2016.

Earlier this week, Jane Sanders, the wife of Democratic Presidential contender Bernie Sanders visited one of Arpaio’s tent prisons, and she later said she was absolutely appalled by what she saw there. Arpaio took offense and wound up in an argument with Mrs. Sanders, telling her she could not hope to understand why he feels the need to do what he does.

When this information reached the Senator from Vermont, he was said to be enraged that Arpaio had “ambushed” his wife, and he fired back last night at a campaign event, telling supporters:

“She asked him about racial profiling, and he didn’t have an answer. She asked him about conditions in Tent City and other abuses that he has perpetuated, and he didn’t have an answer. You know what, he cannot have an answer, because what he is doing is un-American and uncivilized.

“If elected president, we are going to pass comprehensive immigration reform and a path toward citizenship, whether Mr. Arpaio likes it or not.”

And Senator Sanders had a very pointed warning for Joe Arpaio, and, by extension, Donald Trump:

“It’s easy for bullies like Sheriff Arpaio to pick on people who have no power. If I am elected president — the President of the United States does have power. So watch out, Joe.”

That’s the kind of rhetoric we need more of in this campaign. We all need to be taking on the bullies and putting them in their place, no matter how much energy or effort it takes.
