This Is The ONE Thing That Has Shut Up Idiots Cruz And Trump

GOP presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have been quiet about the March job statistics released by the U.S. Labor Department recently. An estimated 215,000 jobs were added, most of it from the retail, construction, and healthcare industries, and that’s not all.

The confidence employers feel about the economic recovery has also allowed wages to increase 2.3% from last year. Gas prices have fallen below $2.50 per gallon and more Americans are looking for work, helping the unemployment rate tick up from 4.9% to 5%.

Since February 2010, there have been 71 consecutive months of people gaining employment with 14 million jobs created. Republicans from John Boehner to Trump and Cruz have been constantly criticizing President Obama for the slow recovery.

Paul Ryan complained that the 2009 Stimulus Package passed ” with little to no GOP support”, 2012 Presidential nominee Mitt Romney pledged to bring unemployment down to 6% by 2016, and Jeb Bush whined that Americans were living on the edge of “economic ruin” during his ill-fated presidential bid.

Now that the GOP has shrunk to 2 viable candidates (I don’t include John Kasich), it’s a good time to remember their positions on what the economy would look like if they were president.

#1) Donald Trump: Aside from Trump’s usual word-salad about immigration, women, abortion, and so many other issues, he seems to enjoy railing about trade more than anything. He still spouts the Republican talking points of reforming the tax code, repealing or replacing Obamcare, and reforming the Veterans Administration.

He says he will not touch programs like Social Security and Medicare while not increasing the deficit. His trade ideas sound acceptable, such as renegotiating NAFTA, and imposing a 35% tariff on all imports. The untold story, however, is the fact that his economic plan would hurt the very demographic that supports him in the largest numbers: white, less educated blue collar workers.

#2) Ted Cruz: Cruz’s economic plan is even more scary. He believes in growth from privatization, deregulation, lower taxes, and cutting spending – which usually means cutting entitlements. His reform proposals include eliminating the IRS, corporate and payroll taxes, and deregulating the EPA.

He wants cuts to Medicare and Social Security, wants to increase the retirement age, and put in place a “flat” income tax rate of 10%. He gives no specifics about how he would pay for his tax breaks and his policies would hurt people nearing retirement.

President Obama has taken a lot of grief from the right-wingers and their constituency. He has bought us out of a dreary economic situation with nothing but obstruction from the GOP and their ilk. The Republican presidential hopefuls have scored major points with their base as they criticize the President’s economic policies through this primary season, but judging by what they propose, only a fool would vote for such nonsense.

Can you say Tea Party?
