WAIT: Did Trump Surrogate Ben Carson Just Say CNN Anchors Are Criminals?

When Donald Trump sends his surrogates off to speak for him, it’s hard to predict just how bizarre things will get.

On Thursday of this week, Dr. Ben Carson appeared on CNN’s “At This Hour” with Kate Balduan and John Berman. He was asked whether Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, is still in charge of the campaign. Dr. Ben stated that Lewandowski is still in place and declared that the Corey he knows is intelligent and efficient. He went on to say:

“I don’t see any reason, quite frankly, why we should demonize him. If you can come up with a good reason, I’ll listen to it.”

John Berman quickly gave him the reason. He reminded the good doctor that the man in charge of the Trump campaign has been charged with misdemeanor battery  for allegedly manhandling a female reporter at one of Trump’s events. Berman assured Dr. Carson that a “lot of people think that is a reason.”

Carson quickly scoffed at the idea that being charged with a crime should be a reason for a public figure to lose his job. He shook his head slightly and said:

“Well, I mean a lot of people have been charged with various things. That doesn’t necessarily mean we have to demonize them.”

Then in an incredible attempt to whitewash a really bad situation, Carson made this statement:

“You’ve probably been charged with something too, maybe with a misdemeanor or something. It doesn’t mean that you’re an awful, horrible person.”

And the best moment of the interview happened right then, when Berman and Bolduan looked at each other in total disbelief.

You read that right: Dr. Ben Carson suggested that two of CNN’s anchors have most likely been charged with a crime.

Of course, this is the guy who tried to get himself elected by claiming to have stabbed a close friend.

Maybe his sense of right and wrong is just a little bit skewed?
