‘Pass The Cyanide’: GOP Rep On Possible Cruz Election

Republican Representative Peter King of New York has some strong feelings about the upcoming Presidential election and he isn’t afraid to share them.

According to a report on Rawstory, King appeared on Fox Business Network and was asked who he supports in the upcoming state primary. King admitted to having some concerns about Donald Trump. He referenced Trump’s early attack on John McCain as issue where he disagreed with Trump. He also said that he was unhappy with Trump’s claim that the Iraq War was based on lies told by then President George W. Bush.

But then the Congressman from Long Island stated that those concerns were nothing compared to his loathing for Ted Cruz. Not mincing any words, he stated firmly:

“Ted Cruz-anyone in New York who even thinks of voting for Ted Cruz is a nut!”

Fox host Trish Regan asked King what he would do if Cruz became the nominee. King was somewhat stymied by the question. He replied:

“I tell you, I don’t know. I’ll get some cyanide.”

King had specific reasons for his intense dislike of the Senator from Texas. He has taken issue with Cruz’ role in shutting down the government in 2013. More recently, King has had sharp words about Cruz’ attack on Trump and his “New York values”.

Reacting to the repeated jibe from the Cruz camp, King had a quick and harsh response. In a statement to CNN on Thursday, King had this to say:

“Memo to Ted Cruz: New York values are the heroes of 9/11, the people who fight terror, and the people you ask for campaign donations. Go back under a rock.”

We certainly are living in interesting times. I have heard a lot of strong political statements in my time, but I’m pretty sure this is the first time I have heard a member of Congress contemplate suicide if a member of his own party is nominated for the Presidency.

Why do I think he might not be alone?
