WATCH: CNN Host Calls Out Trump’s Campaign Manager For Denying ‘John Miller’ Is The Donald

This has been, to say the least, an interesting week for presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump. Despite the sweetness and light that seemed to emanate from Trump’s meeting with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan on Thursday, the so-called meeting of the minds between the two top Republicans was overshadowed by the controversy over a recording of a man named John Miller, who claimed to be a publicist for Trump, calling into a media outlet in the 1990s and trying to explain the actions of his “employer,” Donald Trump. One problem: Forensic experts have now confirmed that John Miller is actually Donald Trump, even though Trump denies this vehemently.

So when Paul Manafort, one of Trump’s co-campaign managers appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” today, host Jake Tapper wasted no time asking Manafort:

“In 1990 under oath he testified he did use the name John Barron, and in 1991 he told People magazine he did use the name John Miller so this has already been admitted previously. I don’t understand why now.”

Manafort attempted to lie his way out of the question, much like Trump himself does on a daily basis:

“I don’t know those facts to be true or not. I just know that he said it’s not him. I believe him.

“I don’t even know the relevance of this frankly. It’s 25 years old and they’re not dealing with the issues that Trump is trying to focus on today. Jobs, terrorism, immigration problems. These are the issues we should be talking about. Why the media is spending so much time going by 25 years, talking about People magazine on a tape that may or may not be Trump.”

To his credit, Tapper was not buying Manafort’s bulllshit for a second:

“This issue is here you have a man who in his 40’s allegedly is his own public relations agent, bragging about his exploits with women while married to Ivana Trump, the mother of his three children and speaks to a certain kind of character issue don’t you think?”

If Trump thinks he’s going to run a campaign against Hillary Clinton on the issue of character and trustworthiness–and he has given every indication he does indeed plan to use that line of attack–then he will lose on that score, too. Trump is a sexist, a misogynist, a serial adulterer, a congenital liar, and a bully. We can only hope he will lose by the largest margin in American electoral history so he goes down as the biggest loser of all time.
