Melania Trump: My Husband Is ‘Not Hitler’

Donald Trump’s wife Melania is doing a little PR for her husband. She wants us all to know that he’s not Hitler.

Thanks for the update.

In her interview with design magazine Du Jour, the reporter asked Melania about comedian Louis C.K.’s well-publicized open letter calling Donald Trump “an insane bigot” and comparing his tactics and rise to prominence to Adolf Hitler’s rise in 1930’s Germany. While she had no idea what the letter said or even who Louis C.K. is, she did object to the Hitler comment.

“No. We know the truth. He’s not Hitler. He wants to help America. He wants to unite people. They think he doesn’t but he does.”

Well, some people might compare Trump’s vitriolic language against Muslims with Hitler’s against Jews, and his meteoric rise to the top of the GOP might evoke for some people scenes of Nazi rallies. Despite this, Melania maintains that her husband is not being racist or xenophopbic. She did have a suggestion though.

“Maybe he needs to say it in a softer way. He doesn’t go after religions. He feels like we need to know who’s coming to this country. If not, we don’t have a country. That’s how he feels. We see how he is, and he wants to unite the country and bring people together and bring jobs back.”

She has certainly taken a page from her husband’s playbook when it comes to shifting blame. When Trump supporters took issue with the way reporter Julia Ioffe portrayed Melania, they unleashed a bevy of anti-Semitic slurs towards Ioffe. In a true Trump move, Melania blamed Ioffe.

“I don’t control my fans, but I don’t agree with what they’re doing. I understand what you mean, but there are people out there who maybe went too far. She provoked them.”

Looks like Melania and Donald make one hell of a team.
