Hoo, boy. With friends like these, I wonder if Donald Trump (R-N.Y.) really needs any enemies? You may remember back in the early days of his presidential campaign, when Trump claimed that he didn’t know much about David Duke, who had complimented his candidacy.
Duke is the (ahem… cough, cough) “Grand Wizard” of the Ku Klux Klan. While his title brings on some giggles and guffaws, his views bring on an entirely different range of emotions.
The Southern Poverty Law Center writes:
“David Duke is the most recognizable figure of the American radical right, a neo-Nazi, longtime Klan leader and now international spokesman for Holocaust denial who has nevertheless won election to Louisiana’s House of Representatives and once was nearly elected governor.”
By any definition, David Duke is an official Right Wing Nut Job.
Now, the Huffington Post is sharing the fact the the Grand Wizard is once again trying to hitch his star to Donald Trump.
A few days ago, Trump tweeted out a horrifically anti-Semitic image of Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) with a background of stacks of money. A red Star of David was shown next to her, with the words “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever?”

Social media went crazy, calling Trump anti-Semitic and racist. News outlets like CNN reported that the image originated on a Neo Nazi website.
Trump and his minions desperately tried to backpedal. They claimed that the star was simply a common sheriff’s star, used on law enforcement badges all over the country. The money was just a reference to her wealth. Former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, a newly salaried CNN staffer, had this to say:
“And the bottom line is you can read into things that are not there. You know, this is a simple star.”
Except that it isn’t a “simple star.”
It is a Star of David, the symbol of the Jewish faith. It was used by avowed anti-Jewish radicals to say that Hillary Clinton is as corrupt as those pesky German Jews in the 1930’s. It used the exact same imagery for the exact same purpose. A Jewish star and a pile of money. Pretty hard to misread that.
Trump does not want to admit he’s a racist.
Now David Duke, the most racist American leader alive today, has gone to bat to defend Trump’s use of the image. The Grand Wizard took to Twitter himself to say that Trump was right.

David Duke was adamant that the star used in the image was not a sheriff’s star at all. Duke went out of his way to identify all of Hillary Clinton’s Jewish donors.
David Duke is out of his racist little mind with joy now that he has a presidential candidate who hearkens back to the good old days of George Wallace (I-Al.). He is deliriously happy to know that he can speak his hateful, narrow-minded, racist beliefs out loud, having found a candidate who represents every one of his ignorant idea.
Donald Trump had better figure out quickly how to disentangle himself from the sticky net of the KKK, or David Duke and his gang of hooded bubbas will take him right down the sewer drain with the rest of them.
