EXCLUSIVE: Inside Source Confirms Trump VP Pick

According to an inside source who spoke to RealClearPolitics earlier today, Donald Trump has indeed made his choice of a running mate. When Trump makes his announcement on Friday morning, standing next to him will be Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

In addition to Trump and Pence having good chemistry together, Trump was reportedly impressed with Pence’s calm demeanor, his years of experience on Capitol Hill, and Pence’s potential to assist Trump with governing, should the GOP regain the White House in November.

Despite news leaking out of Pence as the choice, the campaign denies a decision has been made:

Not long after the cat was let out of the proverbial bag, the IndyStar was able to confirm that Pence was dropping his re-election bid as governor. That may wind up being a wise yet unfortunate move by Pence, whose popularity is on the wane in the Hoosier State. Should Pence and Trump fail to win the election, Pence would then be without a job.

Other finalists who were on the shortlist to be Trump’s running mate were Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich, and General Michael Flynn. But apparently Trump thought a man with some legislative experience would be the best partner for him. It should be noted that Indiana is a reliably red state, so Pence will not provide any appreciable help in that regard.
