WATCH: Kid Gets Mike Pence To Admit He’s ‘Proud’ To Be Trump’s Yes Man

At a rally in North Carolina on August 1, 2016, an 11-year-old boy named Matthew asked Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence:

“I’ve been watching the news on TV lately, and you seem to be softening up some of Mr. Trump’s positions and words. Is this going to be your role in the administration?”

The audience laughed. Pence was nonplussed. He bought a little time by asking the boy’s name and having him repeat the question. And Pence laughed, too. But to his credit, he took the young man seriously.

“Number one, this boy’s got a future.”

He “couldn’t be more proud” to be on the ticket with Trump, he said. They were “shoulder to shoulder in this campaign.”

What You’ll Learn As Governor

“One thing I’ve learned, and you’ll learn this when you’re governor of North Carolina. Sometimes things don’t always come out like you mean them.”  Pence said.

“We’ve nominated someone larger than life, someone known for charisma. And they chose me to kind of balance the ticket.”

Pence went on to say that Trump has:

“the right vision for America and the right policies for America.”

He allowed that people might have noticed they have different styles. Even when he rides a motorcycle, people say he’s “born to be mild.”

“But differences in style should never be confused with differences in conviction.”

It’s certainly true that Pence’s policy positions are extremely conservative, as we have reported previously.

Pence  promised that he would fight every day for Trump’s policy agenda and do everything he can to enact the policies that will “make America great again.”
