Life Preserver Sales Skyrocket As Republicans Continue To Jump Trump’s Ship (VIDEO)

Frank Lavin, Ronald Reagan’s White House political director from 1987 to 1989, recently wrote an opinion piece on CNN about Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

His major conclusion about the 2016 election is:

“It might not be entirely clear that Hillary Clinton deserves to win the presidency, but it is thunderingly clear that Donald Trump deserves to lose.”

Lavin has served in every Republican administration during the last 40 years, so the decision was not an easy one. But Lavin states he will vote Democrat in this election.

He describes The Donald as the “emperor with no clothes.” This statement refers to a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. The emperor is obsessed with wearing the best clothes he can get his hands on. Two con artists come to him and tell him that they want to sell him some cloth that can only be seen by people who are “worthy” of seeing it. The emperor puts on the “clothes” and walks through town, and he doesn’t realize he is naked.

Lavin’s further descriptions of Trump and the many reasons why he can’t be president are spot on:

“Trump falls short in terms of the character and behavior needed to perform as president. This defect is crippling and ensures he would fail in office. Trump is a bigot, a bully, and devoid of grace or magnanimity. His thin-skinned belligerence toward every challenge, rebuke, or criticism would promise the nation a series of a high-voltage quarrels. His casual dishonesty, his policy laziness, and his lack of self-awareness would mean four years of a careening pin-ball journey that would ricochet from missteps to crisis to misunderstandings to clarifications to retractions.”

Lavin is not the only Republican jumping ship and refusing to vote for Trump. Ronald Reagan’s son has weighed in on Trump. Michael Reagan called Trump a “charlatan,” and said the GOP is “a dysfunctional, wheels-off-the-bus-sort-of organization.”

Sally Bradshaw, a lifelong Republican and adviser to Jeb Bush, completely tore Trump a new one as she declared she is leaving the party. She said:

“As much as I don’t want another four years of  Obama’s policies, I can’t look my children in the eye and tell them I voted for Donald Trump. I can’t tell them to love their neighbor and treat others the way they wanted to be treated, and then vote for Donald Trump. I won’t do it.”
