Donald Trump, fresh off his latest offensive and dangerous statement yesterday in North Carolina about some of his supporters who are pro-gun ammosexuals could always use the Second Amendment to take care of Hillary Clinton if she becomes President, is now in full damage control mode. Last night he went on “Hannity” and pretended he had no idea why people were so upset:
“Well, I just heard about that, and it was amazing because nobody in that room thought anything other than what you just said. This is a political movement. This is a strong, powerful movement, the 2nd Amendment. You know, Hillary wants to take your guns away. She wants to leave you unprotected in your home. This is a tremendous political movement.”
And Trump also tried to make everything good with this comment on Twitter:
Media desperate to distract from Clinton's anti-2A stance. I said pro-2A citizens must organize and get out vote to save our Constitution!

But others on social media were not about to give Trump another free pass and just act as if nothing had happened:

.@realDonaldTrump what's it like to have so much cognitive dissonance that you can't say "I'm sorry." Clapping harder won't help you, champ.

No sir, you clearly said "if she picks her judges" that means she's ALREADY elected so you did not mean "get out the vote"

no you didn't – I don't know if you heard about this technology called video but people can see what you said

Why not be a grown-up and not say stuff in an ambiguous fashion and save the media from having to seek clarification?

Trump has quite clearly disqualified himself from being President of the United States. But I hope he stays in the race so he can lose by the largest margin in American electoral history. Then we can put the label on him that he so richly deserves:
