Personally, I love MSNBC host Joy Reid. She’s funny, intelligent, fair, and takes no crap from anyone. In other words, she’s the perfect progressive. And her skills were on display Saturday morning on her show, AMJoy.
Reid had Donald Trump supporter and advocate David Malpass as her guest, and she asked about the $25,000 contribution Trump made to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi not long after Bondi agreed to drop an investigation her office was conducting of the Orange Menace’s failed Trump University. Rather than respond to Reid’s legitimate query, Malpass wanted to talk about Hillary Clinton, emails, and the Clinton Foundation. That led Reid to tell him:
“You’re conflating the emails.”
Malpass went down his list of talking points and began blathering about Clinton not having press conferences. Once more, Reid called him out:
“Now you’re conflating press conferences, emails and foundations? They’re not all the same thing!”
But rather than respond, Malpass, like every true Trump surrogate, continued to spew out lies and half-truths. Reid had no choice but to end the interview, look into the camera, and tell her viewers:
“My head hurts.”
I know the moderators for the upcoming Presidential debates have already been chosen, but could we please replace Fox News host Chris Wallace with Joy Reid? She would not let either of the candidate get away with lies or attempts to change the topic, and isn’t that what we really need from a moderator?
Bravo to Joy Reid for always being willing to call out the bullshit artists who go on television and try to lie their way through an interview. We need more journalists like her.
