Trump Surrogate: ‘First We’re Going To Build The Wall’ When Discussing Poisoned Water

In an appearance on Don Lemon’s CNN program, Trump surrogate and conservative radio host Andy Dean was stumped by a very easy question.

Trump Surrogate Has No Clue

The panel of guests also included Bakari Sellers and Maria Cardona, who were having none of Dean’s nonsense. In an attempt to paint the Flint situation as favorable to his party, Dean said:

“Remember, Flint, Michigan, like many inner cities in America, have [sic] been run by Democrats for decades.”

Sellers did not let that slide, interrupting Dean to say:

“It’s a Republican governor, and it’s a Republican legislature, and those are Republican leaders who have been indicted.”

While it’s true that the mayor of Flint is a Democrat, the mayor is not the person who made the decision to switch the water supply.

That decision was made by an “emergency manager,” appointed by Governor Rick Snyder.

As reported by Fortune back in February, while discussing a piece by Representative John Conyers (D-Mich.),

“Most emergency city managers gain control only over spending, but after Snyder’s expansion of the law, those in Michigan gained nearly total control over a wide variety of city functions. In Flint, that included the fateful decision to switch the city’s water supply to the Flint River.”

Yes, the blame for the Flint crisis falls squarely on Republican shoulders. In their attempt to take control, they saddled cities with emergency managers, accountable to no one but the governor. And those emergency managers screwed the people.

‘First We’re Going To Build The Wall’

Sellers did not stop his takedown of Dean with that one sentence, though. He asked Dean:

“Can you tell me Donald Trump’s infrastructure plan? Does he have one?”

Dean first tried to say that Trump knows infrastructure because he’s been building it his entire life. Panelist Maria Cardona quickly interjected, “To enrich himself!” before host Don Lemon brought Dean back on topic, saying that he hadn’t answered Sellers’ question.

Dean’s answer?

“Trump has an infrastructure plan, absolutely, on his website. First, we’re going to build the wall. Second we’re going to repair our highways and bridges … “

Of course, by this point, host Don Lemon was smirking and shaking his head and Sellers couldn’t even contain his laughter.

I actually went to Trump’s website, despite the nastiness a search like that might cause in my Facebook feed, and looked for his infrastructure plan. SHOCKER – It’s not there.

As with so many Republican positions, the plan is that there is no plan. Build the wall (and make Mexico pay for it – right)! Repeal Obamacare (and talk about a replacement – that will never happen – later)! It’s their modus operandi, folks.

And really, what does building the fabled wall have to do with the water in Flint?

Try again, Trump folks.
