Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is on a mission to crush his opponent, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. To do so, he has come up with a new, nifty way to pump money into his campaign, straight from your wallet. The solution is offered through an email campaign sent out early this morning, inviting recipients to sign up for an:
“Exclusive, non-transferable, invitation-only opportunity to receive a limited edition Trump Black Card.”
After losing two debates, support from prominent fellow Republicans, as well as would-be voters, the time has come for extreme fundraising measures. The email starts friendly enough, with a plea to fellow Republicans:
“Friend, we need you on the Trump Team.
And in order to show you how much your support means to me, I am sending you an exclusive, non-transferable, invitation-only opportunity to receive a limited edition Trump Black Card.”
It’s directed to people longing to belong to the same exclusive circle as Trump himself. However, previous scams like Trump University might warn that your money is what funds his lifestyle. Whether investing in a Trump business, or funding his presidential campaign in order to reap future benefits, it’s unlikely there will be any scraps left over from the Trump table for the rest of us.
The message continues:
“Who will be carrying this card? Only those who want to make a strong statement in this election. It’s a statement that says you’ll be standing WITH ME this final month of the campaign, AGAINST the onslaught of Crooked Hillary’s negative ads, and AGAINST the failed Obama policies of the past.”
OK, he’s mobilizing his forces. Fair enough. But please beware of the next part of the message:
“You’ll be on a team that will be sending a message to Crooked Hillary to watch out, that we’re coming for her.”
Following threats such as encouraging his followers at a rally to use the Second Amendment against Clinton, and saying onstage during the last presidential debate that if it was up to him, as President, she’d be in jail, these are not words to easily dismiss.
We’ve seen time and time again how Trump has normalized crudeness, racism, misogyny, lies, and breaking the law for personal financial gains. The world is watching the election with open mouths, trying to comprehend what is happening.
This election is like reality TV, and Trump is the villain we love to hate.
Like a Sauron from The Lord of the Rings making evil plans in his dark castle, tempting lost souls to cross over to the dark side, Trump does the same from his black tower in Manhattan. But because we live in modern times, you don’t have to place your signature in blood anymore when you sign a Faustian contract with the Devil.
When you hand over your soul to Trump, it’s all done electronically, and when the transaction is done, you’ll receive the Trump Black Card as proof. Your soul will be stored in his database, and he’ll get back in touch when he needs to collect more favors.
Sure, it’s been an incredibly fun episode to watch, but now is the time to remember that this is real life, and our future will depend on who’s elected.
We want a President who’s interested in politics, and is fit to lead this country. With election day less than a month away, it’s not funny anymore.
Now is the time to talk, beg and reason with Republicans still planning to vote for Trump so we can join forces to save America!
