In Trumpworld, Running For President Is An Act Of Charitable Giving (VIDEO)

Surrogates for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump are up against the ropes when it comes to his record of charitable giving. Liberal America reported on how Trump’s claims of giving hold no water under close scrutiny. So, what’s a campaign manager to do?

When A Problem Comes Along, You Must Spin It

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway appeared on CNBC this morning, and host Larry Kudlow asked her about Trump’s lack of charitable giving. At first, Conway tried to say that she’s “seen him write checks,” which is supposed to mean he’s generous, I guess. Then, however, things took a rather odd turn. Conway attempted to turn the act of running for president into an act of giving:

“And the fact is that the idea that somebody who has made such a tremendous sacrifice to run for president — basically a huge sacrifice: didn’t need the money, didn’t need the fame, didn’t need the power, didn’t need the status — and you’ve got a lot of deals that didn’t get done, I’m sure, in the Trump Corporation because the guy at the top is running for president. Those are tremendous sacrifices. He’s been incredibly generous.”

Watch that little tidbit here, starting at about the 1:55 mark:

Are you serious, Ms. Conway?

Trump’s run for president has not done anything for anyone other than Trump himself. It’s the modus operandi of his entire life: do what will benefit Trump and Trump alone.

‘The Father Of Lies’

Hedge fund manager David Tepper is, like Trump (at least, like Trump says), a billionaire. Earlier in the day, Tepper told CNBC that watching Melania Trump introduce her husband as a “generous” man got him pretty riled up:

“During Sandy, the big Sandy benefit, the big 9/11 benefit, not one dime. Not one dime! You can’t tell me this is a charitable, generous person. Trump masquerades as an angel of light, but he is the father of lies.”

Well, at least someone gets it.
