SWEET: Hillary Keeps Her Head Up And Her Smile On (VIDEO)

While many progressive women around the country have been curled up under our covers since election night, our candidate, Hillary Clinton, is coping with more grace.

The Huffington Post reports that one young Mom in White Plains, New York, turned to nature to soothe her soul.

Margot Gerster had been as devastated as the rest of us when her hopes for the first woman President of the U.S. were dashed on Tuesday evening. To get over her feeling of heartbreak, Margot packed her baby daughter into a backpack carrier and took her hiking.

Margot and her baby were walking through the autumn woods of Chappaqua, close to her parents’ home.  She and her little one, Phoebe, walked along the hiking trail, feeling the peace of the woods.

Gerster was just getting ready to leave when she ran into two other people walking the trail.

It was Hillary Clinton and her husband, the former President, out for a stroll with their dogs.

Gerster later posted on Facebook about the meeting, writing:

“I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her. She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk. Now, I’m not one for signs but I think ill definitely take this one. So proud.”

The young woman was able to get a picture with the former Secretary of State, and that image has since gone viral.

The picture of Hillary, Phoebe and Margot was taken by former President Bill Clinton. It’s a great shot, but what makes it particularly touching is the gentle smile on the face of the former Democratic candidate for President.

There is no sign of the heartbreak and frustration that she must be feeling. Instead what we see is a smiling, confident woman pressing her cheek warmly to that of a total stranger.

This is grace. This is serenity.

I hope that the story and the picture will bring some of both to those of us who are still in shock.
