Department Of Corrections Official Resigns After Horridly Racist Facebook Posts

David Barber, who was, until yesterday, the deputy director of Shelby County Corrections Center in Tennessee, is in some hot water after making some seriously racist Facebook posts. The Department of Corrections official, whose career in government spanned 17 years, referred to the First Lady as “Mooshelle” and spoke highly of the KKK, among other things.

‘The KKK Is More American Than The Illegal President’

Barber came under fire after he posted the following to his Facebook page:

That offensive post was not his only one, though.

This is exactly the type of person who should not be near any governmental post, let alone the Department of Corrections. Given the state of our justice system, which locks up young Black men at an alarmingly disproportional rate, it’s frightening to think that a man who holds these views had such a senior position.

Barber also once posted that “mixed race couples” in ads were part of a plan to “eliminate the white race.”

It’s sad that people like this still exist in 2016.

It should be noted that Barber’s posts predate the election – these were not written in response to President-elect Trump’s win. However, the resignation was just tendered — and accepted — on November 16.
