President-elect Donald Trump continues to send shock waves through the nation. Information about whom he is considering for various key jobs has been leaking out at an alarming rate. And the names are a who’s who of incompetents.
Today’s leak came to ABC News through “sources” who told the station that the almost President is considering Sarah Palin for the position of Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs.

You got that right. Secretary of Veterans Affairs. This cabinet level position would put the former Alaska Governor and failed VP candidate in charge of health services, mental health support and rehabilitation for all U.S. Veterans.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but this seems out and out crazy to many observers. Some took to Twitter to express their shock.

Palin had previously been mentioned by the Trump team as a possible nominee for Secretary of the Interior. At that time, she touted her experience with fossil fuel energy as her most important job qualification. Remember, “Drill, baby, drill” from the 2008 campaign?
Now it appears that the Trump squad doesn’t think it wise to put the controversial Ms. Palin in charge of our energy policies, although no explanation has been given for why that is true.
Instead, the President-elect is thinking of placing her in charge of one of the most troubled federal agencies in existence. The Veterans Affairs (VA) agency has been criticized for its disorganization and convoluted bureaucracy for years.
Imagine Sarah Palin trying to untangle all of that.
Palin is most likely under consideration for a Cabinet post because of her loyalty to The Donald, not because she has any of the requisite skills for the job. Mr. Trump is famous for rewarding loyalty above all else.
Palin comes with enough baggage, however, to make her approval by the Senate problematic. She is not herself a veteran, and while this is not required by law, she would be the first Secretary of Veterans Affairs who hasn’t served in the military. She ran into strong criticism from veterans groups last January for stating that her son’s arrest for assault was due to PTSD from his tour of duty in Iraq.
And let’s face it. Sarah Palin has a reputation as being more than a little unstable. Her speech endorsing Donald Trump during the primaries was a frightening example of disordered thought and rambling incoherence.
It makes you wonder what conversations are going on at Trump Tower, as the boss tries to give his cronies the nation’s most important jobs, and his team keeps trying to talk him out of it.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
