Trump Appointee Once Tweeted That Russia Should Hack Hillary (TWEETS)

In the latest edition of “let’s find the least qualified/most eye-roll worthy candidate for positions of power in the United States,” let’s take a look at a pick that has not received a whole lot of scrutiny. After all, President-elect Donald Trump just picked someone with no foreign policy experience to be Secretary of State and a man who would undo 50 years of diplomatic peace work in the Middle East to the be the ambassador to Israel.

Well, let’s meet Monica Crowley, Mr. Trump’s pick for senior director of strategic communications for the National Security Council. She’s a former Fox News reporter and would become part of the team that is integral to advising the President on foreign policy and national security matters.

And just like her future boss, she has an affinity for Twitter, and for putting her foot in her mouth. In fact, she once implied that the Russians should hack Hillary Clinton in order that the Republicans could read her emails:

This tweet is especially troubling considering the news this week that the Russians DID hack American computer systems during the election, throwing doubt on the strength of our democracy.

She also has a track record of pushing conspiracy theories, which has become a theme among Trump picks. In 2013 she made dangerous and totally unfounded claims about Hillary Clinton’s close aide Huma Abedin:

“Well, what we do know, at least so far, we’ve known for years Frank, that Huma Abedin is Mrs. Clinton’s closest and most trusted aide, apart from Bill, we know that to be true. You have done yeoman’s work in investigating her background, her family’s background, in terms of links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Muslim Sisterhood. That exists.”

Sound choice to put on the National Security Council’s staff, eh? A comedian made a sly remark on Trump’s picks:

And the circus continues.
