Donald Trump is a raving sexist and misogynist. That’s been amply established for a long time. But if there was any doubt, it was erased when word leaked out about the dress code for both the Trump campaign and the Trump White House. Apparently Trump is really particular about how women who work for him should look–chillingly so, considering his past history.
Axios spoke with a number of people who have worked with Trump, and they confirmed what most of us already know–the Donald is obsessed with optics and appearance. For instance, he reportedly read Sean Spicer the riot act for appearing at his first press conference with a gap in his collar. Since then, Spicer has appeared in dark, tailored power suits and wide, traditional-style ties.
According to a source who worked on the Trump campaign, one of the most important rules for women who worked for Trump was that they had to “dress like women.” While he officially didn’t mind women wearing jeans as long as they looked “neat and orderly,” a number of campaign staffers felt pressure to wear dresses just to impress the boss.
Needless to say, this suggestion is very disturbing. Remember, we’re talking about a guy who openly reveled in degrading women, and fobbed it off as “entertainment.” We’re also talking about a guy whose original campaign manager had a long history of inappropriate remarks toward women, and who tapped Fox News’ notoriously perverted boss, Roger Ailes, as a consultant.
Once word got out about this interview, it didn’t take long for social media to let Trump have it. Since Axios’ article went live on Thursday, social media has lit up with the hashtags #DressLikeAWoman and #DressLikeWomen. Leading the charge was Senator Kamala Harris.

So far, no angry tweets from Trump. Hmmm–looks like this is one time where the Internet has the Troll-in-Chief busted.
