President Donald Trump spent the entire Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech attacking the legitimate media. Trump called the media the “enemy of the people.” Those of us who know that his rhetoric is motivated by fear were not surprised. Trump has been attacking the media since the campaign. His goal is to discredit the reporting on his lies and treason. What may have surprised people was the blatant admission of the real goal of this administration. The admission came from the real man in charge.
While taking the stage with Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Stephen Bannon, the president’s visionary chief strategist, outlined the administration’s intentions for our country. The Washington Post reported:
“When Bannon listed the administration’s central purposes, the first two were unsurprising: ‘national security and sovereignty‘ and ‘economic nationalism.’ But then came the third: the ‘deconstruction of the administrative state.’ Bannon explained that officials who seem to hate what their agencies do — one thinks especially of Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, who has sued it repeatedly to the benefit of oil and gas companies — were ‘selected for a reason, and that is deconstruction.'”
Of course, it is no surprise that the goal of this administration is to destroy our country. Their actions have made that abundantly clear. Bannon’s words were clear and blatantly stated and Republicans haven’t called for action. Are Republicans that wrapped up in their “party first” attitude? Have they stopped caring about the destination of this country? The thought that Bannon has the ability to actually carry out his insane plan for “new world order” is terrifying and infuriating.
Are you paying attention? I hope that the importance of voting, especially for liberals in the mid-term elections, is starting to sink in. I fear that if we don’t get this right next year, we may never get the chance again.
