Build a wall and deport ’em all!
By now, most Americans are aware of Donald Trump’s views on immigration. According to Trump, “We need strong borders. We need a wall…” We are also crystal clear on where he stands on the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants— Trump told a CNN reporter that he would deport them all and then allow the “good” ones to re-enter the U.S. through an expedited process.
This would adversely affect and interrupt the lives of over 11 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in the U.S.
The Donald has also adamantly and dogmatically criticized companies who employ foreign workers in lieu of American workers. In a statement on his website, Trump announced his commitment to putting an end to widespread abuse of the H-1B Visa Program, which allows highly skilled international workers (such as engineers and computer programmers) and students to work and reside in the U.S. It is a program that Donald vehemently denounces and bashes other American companies for using.
“These are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse…”
And now the plot twist:
Donald Trump’s modeling agency, Trump Model Management, is embroiled in a lawsuit with Jamaican model Alexia Palmer, who is working in the U.S. through the H-1B Visa Program. The visa program considers models skilled workers and allows them to work in the U.S. under the H-1B Visa Program.
The suit alleges that Trump’s modeling agency is defrauding the U.S. government through the use of these visas and is not paying the models the wages that they were promised. Ms. Palmer is claiming that she was enticed to work in the states by Trump Model Management which promised her more than $200,000. She says she has only been paid a few thousand dollars during the three years she has been in the U.S.
Now, let’s go back and put it all together.
Trump is “employing temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay.” AND he is being investigated for abuse of the H-1B Visa Program.
When confronted with this egregious hypocrisy, Trump told CNN:
“It’s something that I frankly use and shouldn’t be allowed to use, we shouldn’t have it – very, very bad for workers. I’m a businessman and I have to do what I have to do… When it’s sitting there waiting for you, but it’s very bad. It’s very bad for business. And it’s bad for our workers and unfair for our workers.”
To summarize, Trump is an admitted hypocrite who utilizes a program that he knows is bad for business and unfair to American workers… and he could be out next president.
