If ExxonMobil chairman Rex Tillerson’s close friendship with Russian President/mass murderer/terrorist Vladimir Putin wasn’t enough to make some members of the U.S. Senate have second-thoughts about confirming Tillerson to be the next Secretary of State, news that leaked out today may well spell doom for his confirmation.
The Center for Public Integrity received information from a German publication which clearly shows that Tillerson is also the director of an off-shore firm involved in oil and gas operations in Russia.
The information also shows that Tillerson has been a director of of the oil company’s Russian subsidiary, Exxon Neftegas, since 1998. The company is conveniently incorporated in the well-known tax haven of the Bahamas.
More damaging connection are also to be found in the leaked documents: Exxon Neftegas managed a major oil and gas project Sakhalin Island, located in the fat eastern portion of Russia. Far East. Not long after Tillerson’s was named ExxonMobil CEO, the company began a partnership with Russian state-owned company Rosneft to expand oil exploration.
The fact that the company is formally incorporated in the Bahamas in order to avoid both taxes and the country’s unwillingness to share financial or tax information is also in direct contradiction of Trump’s repeated refrain that American companies should return to the United States.
In 2013, Tillerson was awarded the Russian Order of Friendship. The award came shortly after the consummation of a deal between ExxonMobil and Rosneft which drastically increased oil exploration in the Kara Sea.
So now we have Putin hacking on behalf of Trump, Trump appointing Tillerson to be the chief American diplomat, and evidence of another tie between Tillerson and Russia. This is way beyond the stage of smoke indicating a fire. This is a four-alarm blaze that can be seen all the way from Washington, D.C.
