Just in case you thought the GOP was really trying to do what they can to keep our government from shutting down…
Just in case you thought they suck but that their ideological principles — though delusional — are what’s driving them…
Just in case you thought that they really do care about “the full faith and credit” of the United States….
Just in case you thought THEY might be the victims of Bully Obama and the Bully Senate…
And just in case you thought they cared about YOU…
Think again.
This list proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that House Republicans want the government to shut down. Why do I make such a bold assertion? Because there is no way that they believe that the Democratic-led Senate, or President Obama, would agree to ANY of the things on this laundry list, much less all of them. They had to know that they wouldn’t get these things approved and this proves, to me, that they went into this fight with the full intention of shutting down the government. They somehow think it would be a good thing for them.
I’ll tell you what IS driving them:
- Their pimps, aka the 1%, Wall Street, Big Pharma, etc…
- Their rabid base.
This is who the GOP is trying to please. To their pimps, they can say “We tried!” and to their rabid base, they can say, “Look, we’re martyrs! We were willing to flush the country down the drain fighting for you.”
I hope that you guys share this with friends who may be a part of the “rabid base.” They need to look at this list and really ask themselves: politics aside, who do these things HURT and who do they benefit? They want to preserve Bush tax cuts, but restrict the Child Tax Credit? Who needs the Child Tax Credit? Not them. Medicare privatization? Really? C’mon. More food stamp slashing? Who does that hurt? Not them. Defund Obamacare? Please.
But oh, look who they want to protect.
Thank you, House Republicans.
