Working For Christ: NC Congressman Reveals His True Mission

It looks as if the Republican Christian soldiers are headed for Washington, D.C. At least that is what Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-N.C.) said at a revival meeting last week.

Representatives Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) also attended the week of ?Celebrate America? in Washington.

Right Wing Watch reported Pittenger’s comment,

?The most important message that needs to be heard in this city is the Gospel and love of Christ. This transforms lives.?

Then Pittenger drew audible gasps, followed by some light applause from the audience after he told them that God loves President Barack Obama,

?God is working his heart, because we’re praying for him that he would know the love of Christ. It transforms everything. It transforms everything we do and think and believe. I don’t care what issue that we work on in public policy and legislation, it all comes down to the reality of Christ.?

Pittenger said that recent ?court rulings and unsettledness? had been hurtful to American Christians. Then he returned to his primary point, urging the participants to share their religious opinions with political rivals.

?I don’t hold fault with those who believe different from me ? they just don’t know my savior. They don’t know the one who loved me and gave himself for me.?

Pittman reminded the crowd about what he believes is his primary mission as a congressman:?promoting Christianity to voters and other lawmakers.

?That’s my primary mission as a member of Congress. Yes, to serve my constituents, to serve my region, and my state, and my country ? but we’re here as emissaries for Christ.?

I wonder what evidence Pittenger has to support his belief that President Obama doesn’t, “know the love of Christ?”
