Ben Carson made more than a few waves over the weekend with his comments on Meet the Press in which he said a Muslim should not be allowed to become President of the United States. Specifically, Dr. Carson remarked:

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not.”

Carson has been criticized by Senator Bernie Sanders, the Democratic presidential candidate, and also by Democratic Congressman Keith Ellison, who is the first Muslim member of Congress. Even Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who loves to be just to the right of Atilla the Hun, said Carson’s remarks smacked of a “religious test” for candidates, which is in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution.

But Carson is getting plenty of support from Bishop E.W. Jackson, who ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2014. Here’s what Bishop Jackson posted on his Twitter account earlier this morning:

Carson’s campaign is now attempting to soften the candidate’s remarks, with campaign spokesman Doug Watts commenting:

“He has great respect for the Muslim community, but there is a huge gulf between the faith and practice of the Muslim faith, and our Constitution and American values.”

Bishop Jackson, however, is not about to back down from his Islamophobic ranting, and also had this to say on social media about the controversy Donald Trump stirred up when he neglected to correct a questioner at a town hall who called President Obama a Muslim:

Jackson also tweeted out this innuendo-laced nugget:

Just as many Americans–this one included–think Bishop Jackson is a lunatic extremist hate-filled sack of human excrement who should stop pretending to be a Christian and instead declare his true allegiance: to division and destruction.
