I don’t know why Republicans have such a hard time with this question. For his entire presidency, hateful extreme right politicians have been trying to claim that President Barack Obama is some kind of secret Muslim.
A GOPer, Nancy Elliott said:
“He is so in the tank with Planned Parenthood that kills babies. I don’t see the fruits of Christianity in him. He may be, I hope he is. I have no ill towards the man, but he doesn’t show the roots of a believer.”
When asked whether she thought Obama was a Muslim, Elliott replied:
“I don’t know. They say he was raised as a Muslim.”
I guess they are saying that Obama isn’t a Christian because they don’t like his views. He wasn’t raised in a particularly religious household, but he came to Christianity while working as a community director in his hometown of Chicago.
Obama said:
“Without a vessel for my beliefs, without a commitment to a particular community of faith, at some level I would always remain apart, and alone. It came about as a choice, and not an epiphany. I didn’t fall out in church. The questions I had didn’t magically disappear. But kneeling beneath that cross on the South Side, I felt that I heard God’s spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth.”
Donald Trump has been on this “Obama is a Muslim” bus for many years. Trump even claimed that Barack Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton founded ISIS.
